Job description

What will you do?

You will be supporting the Back office team which is based in Africa. The team in Africa consists of 4 people.
The activities of the role will include:
  • You will support on tasks such as: settlement, engagement with fund administrators, financial reporting, updating fund and ALM models (Asset liability modeling)
  • Fulfill the facility agent and security agent obligations of designated transactions of the funds (Asset management)
  • Carry out compliance checks and KYC for new and existing portfolio companies
  • Support the head of portfolio management in relation to portfolio oversight, fund generated reports and ratio calculations, E&S monitoring (ecosystem), and tracking of informational covenant and side letter commitment fulfillment.
  • You will be supporting with cash flow forecasting, fund modelling, settlements
  • In order to complete the tasks, you will have to liaise with/ chase other team members/ internal departments and lawyers
  • The training will be provided by the team (remote) with possibility to travel to Africa in order to meet the team.

Requirements

Who are you?

  • An ideal candidate would present the following level of experience and relevant skill sets:
  • Degree from an internationally reputable university (finance, economics, accounting and/or legal fields)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a field with transferable skills
  • Written and verbal French and English language proficiency, at level that would allow for reading and understanding of legal documents and liaising with francophone and anglophone parties
  • Understanding of finance / accounting with experience in financial reporting/ cash flow forecasting and settlement
  • Understanding of fund operations (fund modelling) and/ or debt finance jargon preferred
  • Compliance background
  • High level of organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter that can prioritise, track overlapping assignments, plan time appropriately, and otherwise fill the role with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS office, including knowledge of financial modelling in excel (must)
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work with changing situations in a dynamic organisation
  • Comfortable working across email, online platforms (such as Teams, Zoom), and phone for most interactions
  • Appreciation of a cross-national, cross-cultural environment
  • Emerging markets experience is a plus but not required
  • Partial remote working may be considered
  • Ideally the candidate should live in Amsterdam region (our client does NOT pay travel cost)
  • Candidates who live abroad will be considered (our client does NOT offer a relocation package)
  • The candidate must hold a valid working permit for the Netherlands, our client is not open for sponsorship

Working conditions

  • This is a long term and full time position (40 hours per week)
  • The start date is ASAP
  • The salary is max. € 45.000 annual gross, including 8% holiday money. The salary is depending on experience and education.
  • Other benefits: partial health insurance, 25 holiday days, bonus plan (depending on the performance)
  • NO transport cost, NO pension
  • Our client offers a one year contract (with extension)

Our client is a global investment bank which offers financial solutions to their international clients (sustainable & environmental challenges). Our client has a fund management platform. The funds are specialized in e.g. renewable companies, solar home systems etc. and the funds that bring access to finance to under-served communities mainly in Africa.

With offices in Europe, United States, Middle East & Africa, they are going to open an office in Amsterdam and therefore they are looking for a new colleague. The team in Amsterdam is small, starts with 2 people.
