Job description

Our client is looking for a Coordinator for the Course Development Unit (CDU), to take over the department and all its responsibilities. The ideal candidate is extremely responsible, self-sufficient, flexible, versatile, and most importantly – ready to embrace exciting challenges.

This is a unique opportunity to take over the overall coordination of an existing small department, learn all its processes and procedures, and revamp it into an efficient well-functioning unit. The CDU is at this moment a small department consisting of the Coordinator and one (e)learning Specialist. More than 60 qualified external instructors and course developers are freelancers dealing with the CDU on a daily basis. Therefore, in order to take over the coordination of this department, the new professional will be required to assume a variety of responsibilities which range from simple administration of the daily activities (such as answering calls and emails), to preparation/review/configuration/distribution of course materials, to liaison with course instructors and trainees, up to complex course design and project management.

As the CDU becomes more efficient with the high-quality coordination of the new competent professional, the department is expected to grow; offering therefore a fantastic opportunity for aspiring leaders to develop management skills. After learning how the Unit functions and acquiring the know-how required, the Coordinator should be ready to become involved in the recruitment of new colleagues for the department as it grows.

It is essential that applicants for this position are looking for a long-term sustainable job and have a particular interest in developing his or her skills in competency-based training development & delivery (in-class and virtually). This position offers specialized UN training and certifications, which are considerable investments by the employer.

  • Manage the email boxes: answer and coordinate incoming emails/queries daily; keep up the communication needed with instructors, trainees and colleagues of other departments
  • Coordinate effectively and efficiently the development of training courses according to the CDU methodology and guidelines
  • Continually review course contents and materials delivered by the instructors, including performing revisions, giving ideas and creating interactive engaging activities
  • Keep all training course descriptions, and guidelines/instructions for the Faculty Managers and Instructors up to date
  • Coordinate the development of online courses in the Moodle platform
  • Format e-examinations in Moodle and liaise with Training Operations Team for interfacing with the trainee registration system
  • Prepare and secure digital course material and store in the company’s systems; ready to be sent to trainees by the Training Operations Team
  • When required, order printed training material and liaise with the Publisher for updates and new material
  • Work efficiently and optimally internally, and with the external course instructors and developers, ensuring their timely input as per project plans/deadlines
  • Report departmental updates (e.g. during staff meetings, for monthly reports etc.) as needed.
  • Liaise with the marketing focal point(s) for the creation of marketing and promotional materials for new courses (upcoming or just implemented)
  • Verify and approve payment of relevant invoices through the relevant system.
  • Coordinate version management of the learning & knowledge solutions, in close co-operation with the Business Strategist and Relationship Manager
  • Upon request, assist in the process of hiring and qualifying Instructors by assessing their instructional techniques
  • When needed, be the backup for the other CDU colleagues (such as the (e)Learning Specialist). This includes, but is not limited to:
    • creating engaging & interactive learning materials in the Moodle elearning platform;
    • performing configurations, set-ups, revisions and maintenance of training modules and courses as per applicable methodologies.


  • Minimum University Degree (international Bachelor’s degree), preferably on subjects related to education, learning/teaching, instructional design, competency based training & assessment, IT/eLearning
  • At least 4 years’ proven experience in an educational environment, including day-to-day course design and development.
  • Experience with the ADDIE-methodology is an advantage.
  • Mandatory technical experience with the eLearning Moodle platform.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Dutch fluency is an advantage.
  • Affinity with the Aviation Environment.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work without the risk of quality deterioration.
  • Innovative and technical-oriented, able to transform static materials into engaging interactive activities.

It is a full-time position for 40 hours per week
